REMEMBER THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

“Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you…

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received…”
*Paul received the Gospel from Jesus Christ and was instructed by Christ for 3 years in the Arabian desert (Gal. 1:17-18).
*Paul did not receive the Gospel from “men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead” (Gal. 1:1).

“That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures…”
*Jesus’ death was a substitution for those given to Him by the Father (John 6:37).
*He died for the sins of His people since death was the wages our sins earned (Rom. 6:23).
*He bore the transgressions of His sheep (Isa. 53).

“And that He was buried…”
*He was buried because He was really dead.
*He was buried in a tomb that was hewn out of stone.

“And that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”
*The Scriptures declare that Christ would rise from the dead after three days (Matt. 27:57–61).
*Three days is significant because according to Jewish custom, a person was not considered dead until after three days.
*That He rose from death demonstrates (Acts 2:27) that death could not hold Him down since He was sinless.
*He was raised for our justification (Rom. 4:25) and the Father received His work on our behalf.
