My Father and My God,
Help me to faithfully bow before Your Majesty, Holiness, and Glory for You are my sovereign God.
Help me to humbly draw near to You in prayer.
Teach me from Your Word and by the Holy Spirit to know You more deeply and to know myself more deeply.
You are the sovereign God, the Ancient of Days, the Holy One who inhabits eternity, the One who is from everlasting to everlasting, You alone are God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit!
You are eternal, but I am temporal; You are infinite, but I am finite; You are omniscient, but I am ignorant; You are omnipresent, but I am limited to space and time; You are transcendent and fill heaven and earth (Jer. 23:24), but I am just a speck of dust; You are all-powerful, but I am weak; You are holy, but I am sinful; You are majestic, but I am a worm. O Lord, my Lord, help me! Uphold me!
Help me in my sinfulness, ignorance, weakness, fears, depressions, and infirmities.
Fill me, Holy Spirit, and impart to me wisdom, strength, and comfort in Jesus.
Cause me to love You, O Lord, in a deeper measure.
And as the psalmist declared, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).
Wash me, cleanse me, teach me, guide me, strengthen me, uphold me, keep me, Father, so that I might honor, glorify, praise, and serve You with my whole being.
Sanctify me to a greater degree and cause me to mortify the sin that “so easily ensnares me, and let me run with endurance the race that is set before me” (Heb. 12:1).
Cause me to hate sin more and more and to strive after righteousness, holiness, and godliness with a greater fervor.
Make me more like Jesus!
Keep me, Lord Jesus, from ever trusting my own heart and depending upon my own resources, but cause me to be strong in Your grace.
By Your Word and Spirit, cleanse my conscience from dead works in order to faithfully serve You!
Cause me to know more thoroughly my identity in Christ!
For You, Lord Jesus, tell me in Your Word who I am and why You created me, redeemed me, called me, and are preparing me for a place in Your kingdom!
What love is this that I should be called a child of the living God (1 John 3).
As the hymn writer wrote, “Wonderful grace of Jesus, reaching the most defiled [me!], by its transforming power making him [me!] God’s dear child, purchasing peace and heaven for all eternity, and the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me! Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, deeper than the mighty rolling sea, higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, all sufficient grace for even me; broader than the scope of my transgressions, greater far than all my sin and shame. O magnify the precious name of Jesus, praise His name!”
Sustain me, Holy Spirit, under the trials You send upon me and cause me not to resist the trials but to let them do their sanctifying work.
Grant me the sanctifying grace to rest in Jesus through the difficult days You send upon me.
Cause me always to be real and true as a Christian.
Help me to never put on the Pharisaical cloak or the hyper-pietistic robes of false humility and disingenuousness, but cause me to walk before you in truth and genuineness as I am guided by Your Word, Your presence, and Your power.
Keep me in the palm of Your hand; never let me go for I know if You ever loosened Your grip on me I would immediately return to wallow in the mud as the washed pig or lick up the vomit like the dogs.
I am saved by Your grace in Christ and I stand by faith in the person and work of Christ alone.
I have no other hope and I need no other hope but Jesus!
As John Newton wrote, “Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come: ’tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.”
Bless the worship of Your church this day.
Cause me to decrease, and cause Jesus to increase!
Bless my worship, O God!
Grant us zeal for Christ’s glory and praise.
Revive me, Heavenly Father, to faithfully and diligently worship You in Spirit and in Truth.
Use me up for Your glory!
Speak through me!
Let me be Your mouthpiece to leave the fragrance of Christ everywhere I go in this fallen, decaying world.
Hear my prayer for Jesus’ sake!
