WHAT ROAD ARE YOU ON? HEAVEN OR HELL?

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment…”
—Hebrews 9:27

WHEN A LOVED one dies it leaves many family members and friends with much sorrow and grief in their heart. However, Jesus can and does heal the broken heart of all those who trust in Him. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18). The only One who can explain what happens after death is the Creator of the universe who has given us His eternal, inspired, infallible, inerrant Word, the Bible. And the Bible teaches that all men will live forever (John 5:28-29). The question is where will they live: Heaven or Hell?

HEAVEN IS THE home for all who trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone (Acts 13:38-39) as the One who satisfied for all their sins before the Throne of God’s justice by His perfect Law-abiding, Law-fulfilling life, and His perfect sin-atoning, guilt-removing substitutionary death on the cross (2. Cor. 5:21; Gal. 3:13; Isa. 53; Psa. 103:12). Those who go to Heaven are those who trust that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), that Jesus alone is the only way to the Father, that Jesus alone is the only Mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5), that Jesus alone is the only One who can and does save His people from their sins (Matt. 1:21), that Jesus alone is our only Advocate with the Father (1 John 2:2), that Jesus alone is the only propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:1), and therefore that Jesus alone is the sole entrance into Heaven. There are not many roads to Heaven. There is only one way and His name is Jesus! “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). And our Lord declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

THOSE WHO GO to Hell think they are good people who can make it to Heaven on the strength of their own “moral” life. However, the Bible says our life is like filthy, dirty, rotten rags (Isaiah 64:6) before the true and living God who is thrice Holy (Isa. 6), and “who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see” (1 Tim. 6:16). The Scripture also declares that no sinner enters Heaven by their own deeds (Gal. 2:16; Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 9:16), and even the faith to believe the promise of the Gospel is the work of God and not the work of the sinner (Eph. 2:8-9). Therefore, do not be deceived by all the muddled talk in our world, but simply trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, who reveals Himself in the Bible, and you will be saved from the guilt and consequences of your sin (John 5:24). As Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26).
