THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”
—1 Timothy 1:15

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS all about? If we took a survey on the question, “What is Christmas all about?”, I am sure we would find great ignorance on this question. Some would say it has something to do with peace and good-will on earth in order to teach us to renew our hope for mankind. Others would say Christmas is all about festivities, friends, and family. What is Christmas all about? Do you know the answer to this question?

THE ONLY PLACE we can find the answer is the Word of God, the Bible. Why did the eternal Son of God come to this world two thousand years ago to be born of a virgin in a cattle stall? The Apostle Paul answered this question in 1 Timothy 1:15 by saying, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” The reason the Son of God came into the world was to save sinners. Is this your confession concerning Christmas? This should be the confession on the lips of every person who trusts Jesus Christ for salvation.

DO YOU CONFESS that you have sinned and have broken God’s commandments and therefore are worthy and deserving of eternal damnation since the “wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23)? Do you see yourself as the chief of sinners who is condemned before the Law of God? Well, take heart! It’s for this reason that “Christ Jesus came into the world” –to save the chief of sinners. Trust Jesus now and always for He will never cast out those who come to Him by true faith.
