SALVATION SOLELY BY CHRIST’S WORK

“…knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
—1 Peter 1:18-19

ACCORDING TO THE Word of God, our Lord Jesus Christ willfully suffered the eternal torments of God’s wrath on the cross because it was the only way He could remove the curse which lay upon His people. You remember how Jesus prayed in Matthew 26:39, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” The Father did not remove the cup from Jesus because it was only by His suffering eternal death that He could redeem sinners from everlasting damnation and save them from the severe judgment of God. Only in this way could Jesus obtain for His sheep the favor of God, righteousness, and eternal life.

ARE YOU TRUSTING Jesus Christ for the salvation of your soul? If so, you ought at this moment to bow your head and give thanks to the spotless Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, Who, although He knew no sin, was ‘made to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21). To this spotless Lamb of God is due eternal praise from all those who have been eternally covered in His atoning blood and perfect righteousness! “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13).
