REMEMBER…

“Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.” —Romans 15:14

*The Apostle Paul is confident (from the Greek word “peitho”, which means “convinced”) that believers, whom he calls “brethren”, are full of goodness (beneficence) by the working of the Holy Spirit. In other words, they displayed high moral character in that they hated evil and loved righteousness.

*Paul was also convinced, because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the teaching of Scripture, that the believers in Rome were full of the knowledge of the Lord. This refers to deep, intimate knowledge indicating that the Roman believers were doctrinally sound. They knew and understood the teaching of the Lord in the Word of God. Notice that truth and virtue are inseparable (1 Tim. 1:19).

*Because of these two things, the Apostle Paul was confident that believers are able to admonish one another. “Admonish” is from the Greek word “noutheteo”, which means “to put to mind” by means of warning, cautioning, or gently reproving with the teaching of Scripture. Every believer is responsible to encourage and strengthen other believers with God’s Word and is divinely equipped by the Holy Spirit with the Word of God to do this necessary work in the church of Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 3:16).

*Trust God and get going, dear believer!
