A CHRISTIAN'S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER
My Father and My God!
You have revealed Yourself in Scripture as the sovereign of the universe.
You have revealed Yourself as Triune: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, One God yet three Persons: co-eternal, co-existent, and co-essential.
You are the Creator of heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them dwell, the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees, and man as the crown of Your creation.
You are the One who sustains all Your creation as it is written, "For in You we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).
The writer to the Hebrews tells us that You uphold all things by the Word of Your power (Heb. 1:3).
You are holy, holy, holy! Lord God almighty! The whole earth is filled with Your glory! (Psalm 19)
You are immutable, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.
You are all of Your attributes and that eternally so!
You are love, righteousness, justice, mercy, grace, and the fountain of every good thing!
As James wrote, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning" (1:17).
You are the God who "will have mercy on whom You will have mercy, and will have compassion on whom You will have compassion" (Romans 9:15).
Heavenly Father, I love You because You first loved me. Cause my love for you to increase.
Lord Jesus, thank You for coming into this world and taking upon Yourself the likeness of humanity and taking the form of a servant.
Even though You are the spotless Lamb of God, You became sin (2 Cor. 5:21) so that Your people might become the righteousness of God in You.
You took upon Yourself the sins of all Your sheep so that You might bear the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for Your church (Gal. 3:13).
And this was all done by imputation since You are the Lamb of God without spot or blemish.
You are the One who knew no sin, "committed no sin, neither was deceit found in Your mouth" (1 Peter 2:22).
You did this to glorify the Father by saving a multitude of sinners which were as many as the sand by the seashore and the stars of the heavens in number.
You saved all those that the Father has given unto You (John 6:37).
Scripture declares that You came and lived and died in the place of Your sheep, Your people, Your church, Your chosen ones.
You fulfilled the demands of the Law of God on behalf of the sheep of Your pasture so that Your sheep would no longer live under the curse of the covenant.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me, body and soul, from the wrath of God, Satan's dominion, and the rebellion that once reigned in my heart.
Thank You for giving Your life a ransom for me and a multitude that no man could number!
In and of myself, I am worthy of damnation, but You, Lord Jesus, bore the wrath of God's justice in my place on the cross so that I bear my sins no more!
Hallelujah! What A Savior!
Lord Jesus, I love You because You first loved me.
Cause my love for you to increase.
Holy Spirit, thank You for regenerating my soul and continually conforming me into Christ's image.
Thank You for granting me the faith to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ and trust Him alone as my Redeemer.
Thank You for breaking the bonds of Satan and sin and placing me upon the narrow road that leads to life.
Thank you for baptizing me into the body of Christ and for Your constant companionship as You dwell within me.
Thank You for Your constant intercession since many times I know not what to pray for but can only groan in my soul.
Thank You for testifying with my spirit that I am a child of God.
What a great blessing to experience the assurance of salvation, to know that I belong to Christ.
Thank You for continually working within me and upon me to will and to work of Your good pleasure.
Holy Spirit, I pray that You continue Your work of illumination and cause me to understand, believe, and bow to the Word of God.
Don't allow me to resist Your work within me as I realize my propensity towards sin.
Don't allow me to drift from the Faith that was once delivered unto the saints since I recognize my wandering heart.
Humble me when I obey; Discipline me when I stray.
Keep me in the love of Christ and keep me walking in step with Your Word.
Fill me with Your power and presence, dominate and rule my mind, will, and emotions by Your Word.
Use me for the glory of Christ.
Continue to empower me to use the gifts You have given me in service of Christ and His church.
Holy Spirit, I love You because You first loved me. Cause my love for you to increase.
In Jesus' authority I pray!

GOD’S WONDROUS WORD
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
—Psalm 119:105
St. Augustine once wrote, “Our hearts are restless, until they can find rest in you.” The only thing that can satisfy the longing in our soul is the Word of God. So often we are discontented with our possessions and when we obtain more to satisfy the longing in our soul we quickly learn that the hunger continues. Why? Because the longing of man’s soul can only be satisfied by the Word of God. Scripture alone is the food for our soul. The Apostle Paul told the elders at Ephesus in Acts 20:32, “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” The Word of God is what the believer lives by. Scripture alone brings joy, comfort, peace, and satisfaction to our soul.
The Word of God brings light to our pathway and illuminates the way before our feet in this dark world (Psalm 119:105). This sinful world is a stumbling block of darkness. We cannot look to the wisdom of this world to give us guidance because the wisdom of this world is “foolishness, earthly, sensual, and demonic” (1 Cor. 3:19; James 3:15). Only God’s Word is sufficient and dependable to guide us in this world. This doesn’t mean that we can’t turn to others for advice. The psalmist turned to his father, mother, and friends many times for counsel. But only when others give us counsel in accordance with the Word of God will their counsel be reliable, true, and worthy to be followed (Psalm 1).
Is your soul discontent? Do you have a longing that is never satisfied by the things of this world? Do you have troubles in your marriage or with your family? Do you struggle with certain sins in your life? The only solution is to feed on the Word of God. The Word of God is the only reliable and trustworthy guide that can give us the wisdom, strength, comfort, and hope we need to withstand the temptations we face in this life (Romans 15:4). That’s why the Psalmist wrote, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11). And again, “I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation” (Psalm 119:99). And once again, “and that from childhood you have known the Scriptures which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 3:15). So, the question is, have you had your spiritual food today? Have you partaken of God’s spiritual bread of life? “This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has given me life” (Psalm 119:50).
