As Christians, we have been called by our Lord to be our brother’s keeper. This responsibility is fleshed out by our spiritual and temporal care for one another. The “one anothers” in Scripture are powerful!!
“and pray for one another…”
—James 5:16
“…but exhorting one another…”
—Hebrews 10:25
“Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
—1 Thess. 5:11
“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.”
—Romans 14:19
“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;”
—Romans 12:10
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
—Ephesians 4:32
“bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
—Colossians 3:13
“Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
—1 Thessalonians 4:18
“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.”
—1 Peter 4:9
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
—John 13:34
“These things I command you, that you love one another.”
—John 15:17
“submitting to one another in the fear of God.”
—Ephesians 5:21
“with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,”
—Ephesians 4:2
“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.”
—Romans 13:8
These are simply a few of the many verses that could be quoted regarding our responsibility to care for one another. In short, care for one another for this is Christ’s commandment so that we might glorify our Lord and King by our wonder, love, and praise, and encourage, edify, and excite one another to love and good works! This is the Way!
In Christ,
