BROOKLYN’S JOURNEY HOME

Brooklyn’s post below is from 2022, but it’s still a powerful, edifying, and encouraging witness to Jesus Christ from a courageous young lady. She died peacefully and comfortably in the early morning hours of March 1, 2022.

“Am I scared to die? Waking up in the trauma bay of my local hospital in September, I had made it through another bout of anaphylaxis. I snapped this photo while waiting for a room. I’ve taken many licks at death, as if mortality is a melting ice cream cone, though not as sweet. Definitely not served from a musical truck. People keep asking if I’m scared to die. Yes. And no. Honestly, I’m dreading the process. Dying isn’t comfortable. That’s why Jesus came to do it for us. Not because it’s uncomfortable, but because death and hell are a reality for the body and soul of the unbeliever (Rom. 6:23). Jesus came so that those who repent, confess, and believe in Him can receive eternal life (John 1:12, Eph. 2:8, Rom. 10:9-10). All to the glory of Jesus, seated at the right hand of God (Heb. 1:3, 10:12).

Because I’m a follower of Christ, I’m NOT scared when it comes to the transition. I know exactly where I’ll be. In the glorious presence of God. I do have a healthy fear and respect of standing before Him. When the prophet Isaiah stood before God, he exclaimed, “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips” (Is.6:5). His unrighteousness condemned Him. The righteousness of God covered Him (Rom. 4:3). The blood of Christ covers me, and I will be perfectly presentable before Him (Eph. 1:7). So, there’s nothing to fear. And there’s probably ice cream. So, am I scared to die? I’m not looking forward to the process. Death ice cream tastes rancid. But I’m excited there’s no aftertaste where I’m going. I’m healthily intimidated by the might of the all-powerful Creator. Yet, I know I’m covered by the blood of the Lamb and will enter pleasures forevermore at His right hand (Psalm 16:11). The primary pleasure? Worshiping before the throne, day and night, basking in the glory of my Savior (Rev. 7:10,12,15). So much better than even cookie dough and chocolate fudge ice cream.”
