A NEEDY CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

A NEEDY CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

My Father and My God,
Hear my feeble prayer for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Holy Spirit, teach me by Your Word how to pray effectively for Your glory and the good of Christ’s Church.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Rom. 8:26).
Teach me to pray more consistently in accordance with Your Word.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us” (1 John 5:14).

O Lord, You alone are mighty, but I am weak. You alone are wise, but I am foolish.
You alone are all-knowing, but I am ignorant and stupid of so many things!
You alone are holy and glorious, but I am sinful and defiled.
You alone are the Creator of the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, but I am simply dust and ashes.
Therefore, my Father and my God, look upon me in Your grace and mercy in Christ.
Fill me, Holy Spirit, with Your Presence, Power, and Word.
Teach me, my God, to walk in the way of wisdom, and to be clothed with humility as was my Savior Jesus!

Lord Jesus, strengthen me for today’s work and service, and make me walk faithfully and obediently for Your glory.
O Father, strengthen my faith in Christ, cause me to love You, Your Word, Your Son, Your Spirit, Your Church, and all things true, holy, righteous, good, and just in a greater measure.
Help me to love and esteem others as better than myself.
Help me, O Lord, take the lowest place of service towards those who cross my path.
Let me be my brother and neighbor’s footwasher!

Help me to love my brothers and sisters in Christ, my neighbors, and even those who hate me.
Keep my tongue from gossip, backbiting, and slandering others.
Help me to use my tongue to praise You, to be seasoned with salt, and to impart grace to those who hear.
Teach me wisdom and humility. Keep me dependent upon You in all things.
Keep me on the straight and narrow path since, as the hymn writer wrote, “Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart; O take and seal it; seal it for thy courts above.”

O my Father, don’t let me wander, don’t let me drift, don’t let me grow cold or indifferent.
As the Sons of Korah wrote, “Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6).
O Lord, I am needy, foolish, and weak, and I know it.
I need You every moment to uphold me with Your strong arm.
“Guide me, O my great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but you are mighty; hold me with your powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore, feed me now and evermore.”

In Christ’s holy name!
Amen!
