A CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

My Father and My God!

You are my God, the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are awesome in holiness, majestic in power, infinite in wisdom and knowledge, and ineffable in all Your works!
You are all-wise, all-powerful, and everywhere present.
You, O Lord, uphold the universe that You created with the Word of Your power!
You are awesome! Nothing and no one can be compared to You.
You are wondrous in truth, goodness, and mercy!
You are amazing in grace, love, and redemption!
O God, You alone save sinners from sin, death, and Hell.

You alone regenerate the soul and create faith within the heart.
You alone impart everlasting life, because You: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are the one true and living God!
You are three in person, yet one in divine essence, and You are these things eternally and immutably.
Thank You, dear Lord, for salvation! Thank You for granting all Your elect mercy and grace in Christ!
Thank You for saving me! I am so utterly unworthy of the least of Your truth, mercy, and grace!
You are infinitely holy, just, merciful, kind, loving, gracious, and long-suffering with Your people.
You forgive the sins of those who love You, and You punish the evil doer.

Lord, I love You! No, my love is not what it ought to be but I do have love in my heart for You.
This is evidence of my salvation since I could not love You apart from You shedding Your love abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit.
I could not love You apart from the Holy Spirit regenerating my soul and creating faith and love in my heart!
Increase my love for You. Increase my faith. Increase my thankful service!
Grant me greater and more consistent obedience!
Give me, O Lord, greater understanding of Your Word, and cause me to diligently walk by faith in Christ, being led by the Holy Spirit!

Help me, O Lord! I am a sinful, weak, fragile, frail, broken, and vulnerable Christian!
I feel my heart the same as the hymn writer, “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart, oh take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above.”
I fall short every day in thought, word, and deed, and I am saddened by my failure to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength! Forgive me! Cleanse me! Revive me again, O Lord! Use me for Your glory and service!
Cause me to keep looking to Christ as my only righteous standing before You.
Help me to continually remind myself of the glorious Gospel of Christ.
Jesus is my only hope of redemption, reconciliation, forgiveness, sanctification, glorification, love, mercy, and grace.
Jesus is my all in all. Keep my eyes fixed upon Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith!

I need You every hour to uphold me! I need the conviction of the Holy Spirit! I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit!
I need the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit who gives me assurance through the Word that I am a child of God!
I need Your constant forgiveness as I have not reflected Your glory as I ought!
I need Your continual abiding presence and Your face shining upon me lest I slip into despair and depression!
Lord, I need You every hour!
As the hymn writer wrote, “I need Thee, Oh, I need Thee; Ev’ry hour I need Thee; Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.”

Revive me again, O Lord, to serve You with zeal, courage, boldness, and vigor!
Use me up for Christ’s kingdom and glory!
O Lord Jesus, strengthen me, bless me, fill me with Your Spirit and Word!
I belong to You! Shepherd me, Lord Jesus!
“Guide me, O my great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but You are mighty; hold me with Your powerful hand.”

Chasten me when I stray from Your sheepfold.
O Lord, let me not go astray!
Humble me when I obey Your word knowing that it’s You who is working in me to will and work of Your good pleasure!
I ask all these things in Jesus’ name!
Amen!
