My Father and My God,
You are the Sovereign of this universe: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, ruling and reigning according to Your good pleasure and purpose.
You are majestic in holiness, awesome in power, and infinite in knowledge, and immutable in Your being.
I am humbled that You are mindful of me. As Psalm 8 reads, “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”
You have regenerated me, redeemed me, reconciled me, forgiven me, cleansed me, washed me, adopted me, justified me, and You are sanctifying me, and You alone provide me with all things necessary for life and godliness.
I know that all I have need of You provide because You are my Good Shepherd Who cares for His sheep.
Forgive me Father for breaking all Your commandments. I have sinned in my thoughts, words, and actions.
Even as a redeemed man I have not kept Your commandments but only have a small beginning of obedience.
As the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 7:15, “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”
Holy Spirit, You have taken me off the broad road that leads to destruction and set my feet upon the narrow road that leads to life.
You have caused me to know and believe Your truth and have blessed me with a godly desire to continually reject the lies of Satan, sin, and this fallen world, which is under Satan’s rule.
You continually teach me Your truth and reveal Christ to me more and more as You cause me to grow in the likeness of my wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ.
You cause me to walk in wisdom. You humble me in Your sight.
You teach me to love You, Your Word, my brothers and sisters in Christ, my neighbors, and even my enemies.
Father, I know that of myself I am not worthy of the least of Your blessings and truth.
I am sinful, needy, helpless, and hopeless apart from Your grace in Jesus Christ!
In and of myself, I am only worthy of damnation for I have broken all Your commandments in thought, word, and deed.
Yet in a gracious wonder, I don’t stand before You in and of myself but I am in Christ, united to Him forever, and covered and clothed by His righteousness, holiness, and perfect satisfaction.
Therefore, You love me for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the One Who has fulfilled all the righteous requirements of Your Law in my place.
Lord Jesus, You went to the cross and suffered for all my sins; past, present, and future.
You were condemned in my place and on my behalf that I would have no condemnation as I am united to You spiritually.
You alone are my covenant Head.
You arose from the dead, which declared that the Father received Your atoning work on my behalf and also on behalf of all that were given to You. I am eternally forgiven because of Jesus!
I am eternally blessed because of Jesus! I am forever loved because of Jesus!
I am cared for because of Jesus! I have everlasting life because of Jesus!
I am washed because of Jesus! I am adopted into the family of God because of Jesus!
My name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life because of Jesus!
Oh, how I love Jesus! Lord, I am humbled by Your love, grace, mercy, and Your sustaining and transforming work of sanctification.
As the hymn writer wrote,
♫There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
it sounds like music in my ear,
the sweetest name on earth.
Refrain:
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
because he first loved me!♫
I am forever thankful, Heavenly Father, that You loved me from before the foundation of the world, that You love me now, and that You continually provide for me and have promised to never leave me nor forsake me!
I am astounded that You know everything about me yet You still love me.
I am humbled and thankful to be one of Your adopted children.
Please, Heavenly Father, discipline me when I sin, and humble me when I obey!
Cut off every opportunity for sin, and keep me on the narrow path that leads to life!
May I ever praise Your holy name!
In Christ’s name I pray!
Amen!
