A CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

My Lord and My God!

You alone are the Sovereign God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one in essence yet three in person.

You alone created, uphold, and sustain everything in the universe!

From the tiniest atoms to the largest sea creatures, You made them all and uphold them all with the Word of Your power.

You made the stars, You numbered them, and You call them all by name (Psalm 147:4)!

You made all the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, all the creepy crawlies of the earth, the beasts of the field, and You created man as Your image bearer!

You, O Lord, are omniscient. You know the depths of my heart and amazingly You still love me for Christ’s sake!

Even though I have changed and vacillated thousands of times, yet You have never changed, can never change, and will never change because You are the infinitely and eternally perfect God, Who is eternally immutable.

There is no degree of change in You. You alone are the Ancient of Days!

You know the word on my tongue altogether, and You have known it from all eternity! (Psalm 139:4)

As David declared in Psalm 139:6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”

WOW! What a wondrous, mighty, majestic, and awesome God You are: Father, Son, Holy Spirit!

Help me live for You, for Your glory, honor, and praise! As the hymn writer wrote, “Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my moments and my days; let them flow in endless praise!”

Lord, I believe! Help my unbelief! Forgive my unbelief!

Thank You, Father, for planning redemption and in Your amazing love You sent the righteous, holy, spotless Lamb, Jesus Christ!!

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for executing the Father’s plan of redemption and securing my forgiveness, reconciliation, and righteousness and blessing me with everlasting life even though I am sinful, feeble, fickle, frail, unworthy, and poor in spirit!

And not only me, but a multitude of others, which no man can number, from every tribe, tongue, nation, and language of this world as many as the stars in Heaven and the sand by the seashore in number!

Thank You, Holy Spirit, for applying Jesus’ work of redemption to all that the Father has chosen, and that Christ has redeemed!

And thank You for Your convicting grace, encouraging Word, gentle prodding, assuring presence, and edifying work in my heart!

Continue, Holy Spirit, conforming me into Christ’s glorious image!

Don’t allow me to grieve You. Keep me, Holy Spirit, from sinning against You.

Keep me from wandering from You since I am “prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.”

Forgive me of my sins of thought, word, and deed. I have broken all Your commandments!

Forgive me for my sin of lusting with the eyes, the flesh, and the pride of life.

Thank You, Jesus, for perfectly keeping the Law of God for me, and for being condemned because of my transgressions and sins.

Thank You for fulfilling all the demands of the covenant of works for me and for all those given to You by the Father!

You alone are the Savior of sinners. You alone are the Mediator between God and men.

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Thank You that when I confess my sins to You that You forgive and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

Cause me to walk in Your ways. Strengthen me to keep Your Word.

Use me for Your glory.

Here am I, O Lord, send me!

I ask all this in Christ’s precious name!

Amen!
