A CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER

My Father and my God,

Thank You for this Lord’s Day so that Your people might gather to worship and praise You!
To hear Your Word, to be filled with Your Spirit, to sing out the honor of Your name!
You are truly worthy of all our praise!

Thank You for saving me! In and of myself, I am so utterly undeserving of the least of Your benefits, let alone redemption.
Thank You, Jesus, for living and dying in my place and fulfilling all the righteous demands of the Law of God in my place.
Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the cross to satisfy the justice of God against my sins.
Thank You for turning away God’s wrath from me by absorbing it all in your person.
Thank You for making me favorable in God’s sight by imputing to me Your absolute righteous perfection.
Thank You for Your forgiveness.
Thank You that when I confess my sins to You that You are faithful and just to forgive and cleanse from all unrighteousness.
Thank You for Your kindness, mercy, grace, love, and compassion to such a weak vessel as I.

O God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit: I love You! You have implanted Your love in my heart.
My love for You and for others is not what it ought to be. It’s so weak and imperfect. Strengthen my love for You and for all men.
I fail to love You with my whole heart! I fail miserably! I fail daily! I fail to love my neighbor as myself.
I have sinful thoughts, words, and actions! I struggle daily against the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.
But praise Jesus that He never failed to love You, Father, with His whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.
For Scripture tells me that He did so on my behalf and on behalf of all His sheep.
“And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world” (1 John 2:2).
Jesus also never failed to love His neighbor as Himself, even while they nailed Him to the cross.
What Amazing grace of Jesus that saved a wretch like me.

Holy Spirit, I need Your constant forgiveness as I have not reflected Your glory as I ought.
I need Your continual abiding presence and Your face shining upon me lest I slip into despair, discouragement, or depression.
I need You to illuminate the Scriptures to my mind. Grant me understanding! Grant me obedience.
Fill me with Your holy fruit: “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
O Lord, I need You every hour! Revive me again, O Lord, to serve You with zeal and vigor.
Drive away lethargy; dispel joylessness; fill me with Your presence and power and grant me courage.
Help me submit joyfully to Your Providence when all around me seems to abide darkness and decay.
Fill my mind with Your Word and cause me to respond in a godly manner to Your hard Providence.

Heavenly Father, grant me the strength to face each day with courage.
When I feel weak, remind me of Your strength and love.
Help me rely on You at all times, but especially in times of doubt, fear, and discouragement, which are like sea billows against my soul!
Fill my heart with Your peace and wisdom, and cause Your strength be my shield and Your Word my guide.
In every difficulty, let me see Your hand at work.
Thank You for being my Rock and Refuge.
REMIND me, Father, that “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20).

I ask all these things in Jesus’ name!
Amen!
