A CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY AM PRAYER

My Father and my God, hear my feeble prayer for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, shepherd my wandering heart for I know I am prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Keep me secure in Your sheepfold.
Oh, Holy Spirit, teach me by Your Word how to pray effectively for Your glory and the good of Christ’s Church.
O God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit: You alone are mighty and wise, but I am weak and foolish.
You alone are all-knowing, but I am ignorant of so many things!
You alone are holy and glorious, but I am sinful and defiled!
You alone are the Creator of the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, but I am simply dust and ashes!
As Your Word declares, I am but dust and ashes, like a vapor, a temporal flower, here today and gone tomorrow.

Therefore, Heavenly Father, look upon me in Your mercy, and fill me with your Spirit and Word. Bless my worship this morning!
Grant me a holy zeal to sing Your praise, humility to bow my heart to Your holy Word, and godly confidence to loudly confess Your holy name!
Teach me to walk in wisdom, and to be clothed with humility as was Jesus, my Savior!
Keep me on the narrow path that leads to life everlasting!
Strengthen me for today’s work and service and make me walk faithfully and obediently for Your glory.
Strengthen my faith in Christ, cause me to love You, Your Word, Your Son, Your Spirit, Your Church and all things holy, righteous, and good in a greater measure, and help me to love and esteem others as better than myself.

Help me, O Lord, to take the lowest place of service towards those who cross my path.
Let me be my brother’s servant and foot-washer!
Help me to love my brothers and sisters in Christ, my neighbors, and even those who hate me.
Keep my tongue from gossip, backbiting, and slandering others.
O Father, I am needy, foolish, ignorant, and weak, and I need You every moment of every day.
“Guide me, O my great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but you are mighty; hold me with your powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore, feed me now and evermore.”

Lord Jesus, help me, for I am a sheep of Your pasture and I am completely dependent upon You every moment of every day for in You I live and move and have my being! As the hymn writer wrote, “I need Thee, oh, I need Thee; Ev’ry hour I need Thee; Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee. I need Thee ev’ry hour, Stay Thou nearby; Temptations lose their pow’r, When Thou art nigh.”
I need thee, O Lord, every moment of every day!
Holy Spirit, fill me with Your holy presence and power.
Control my mind, words, and work for Your glory.
Here am I, dear Lord, use me for Your glory, honor, and praise.

In Jesus’ name I pray!
Amen!
