A CHRISTIAN’S SUNDAY AM PRAYER

My Father and My God,

You are eternal and infinite in all Your attributes.

You are loving, holy, righteous, just, gracious, merciful, faithful, longsuffering, forgiving, infinite, sovereign, good, omnipresent, eternal, omniscient, immutable, wise, omnipotent, etc! And You don’t possess these attributes, but You ARE all these attributes! You are glorious, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

You are the God Who performs wonders. You created the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all things that dwell in each.

You parted the Red Sea for Moses and the children of Israel, and overthrew the Pharaoh and his army.

You caused the sun to stand still for Joshua.

You caused the walls of Jericho to come crashing down.

You defeated the Midianite army with Gideon and his 300 men.

And You redeemed a multitude, which no man can number, from every tribe, tongue, and nation of the world by the perfect law-abiding life and sin-atoning death of Jesus Christ!

You are JEHOVAH-JIREH: “The Lord Will Provide” (Genesis 22:14)

You are JEHOVAH-RAPHA: “The Lord Who Heals” (Exodus 15:26)

You are JEHOVAH-NISSI: “The Lord Our Banner” (Exodus 17:15)

You are JEHOVAH-M’KADDESH: “The Lord Who Sanctifies, Makes Holy” (Lev. 20:8; Ezek. 37:28)

You are JEHOVAH-SHALOM: “The Lord Our Peace” (Judges 6:24)

You are JEHOVAH-ELOHIM: “LORD God” (Genesis 2:4; Psalm 59:5)

You Are JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU: “The Lord Our Righteousness” (Jer. 33:16)

You are JEHOVAH-ROHI: “The Lord Our Shepherd” (Psalm 23:1)

You are JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH: “The Lord Is There” (Ezekiel 48:35)

You are JEHOVAH-SABAOTH: “The Lord of Hosts” (Isa. 1:24; Psa. 46:7)

O my Father! I give You praise and thanksgiving that You have redeemed me by the work of Jesus, Your well Beloved Son!

O Lord Jesus! I give You praise and thanksgiving that when I was lost You sought me and brought me to Your sheepfold!

O Holy Spirit! I give You praise and thanksgiving that when I was spiritually blind You made me see! Thank You that You continue to make me see the glorious Truth of Scripture! That You continue to show me Jesus in the Word.

Make me see more! Lead me, guide me, direct me, teach me, discipline me, instruct me, illuminate me, and fill me with Your Presence and Power!

Forgive me, heavenly Father, for the remaining corruption in my soul that produces rebellion in my thoughts, words, and deeds.

Forgive me as I have broken all Your Holy Commandments in every aspect! Even as James teaches me, “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10).

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for fulfilling all the righteous requirements of the Law of God in my place, and for absorbing my punishment on the cross because of my rebellion.

I have no hope without You, Lord Jesus! You are my Hope, Joy, Crown, and my Rejoicing! Blessed be Your holy Name!

Thank You for the precious promise that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

I confess I have sinned against You! Forgive me, O Father, as You have promised because of the person and work of Jesus Christ.

As the hymn writer and pastor, John Newton, once wrote, “I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be.”

Praise the Lord for the blessed work of Jesus in my place!

Discipline me when I sin! Keep me humble when I obey!

In Jesus name!

Amen!
