A CHRISTIAN’S SIMPLE SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER…

My Father and My God,

How Great Thou Art!

Heavenly Father, with all that I am able, I thank You for redemption! I need Your forgiveness every hour of every day! Thank You for providing that everlasting forgiveness in the person and work of Jesus Christ!

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for justification, for covering me with Your righteous robes! Thank You for Your cleansing blood that washes away all my sins! What a wondrous grace and mercy You have bestowed upon me and all Your redeemed people! As Isaiah wrote, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isa. 1:18).

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for sanctification, for progressively making me and all Your people more and more like Jesus! Oh, how I long to be more like Jesus! To think His thoughts after Him and to be completely done with sin! What a blessing that the power of sin in my life is being destroyed day by day as You apply Your holy Word to my heart and conform me into Christ’s image. You, Holy Spirit, are renewing my mind by Your transforming, inspired, inerrant, infallible Word. I am daily thinking more like Jesus yet I have such a long, long way to go. Yet I am moving in a righteous direction as You, Holy Spirit, continue Your progressive work in me.

Thank You for future glorification, being made exactly in the image of Jesus. No more sin in thought, word, or deed, no more struggles with the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, but rather complete, full, perfect, and everlasting love for You, O God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, made complete because of Christ’s work on my behalf and on behalf of all Your redeemed people! Hallelujah! What a Savior!

O LORD, be glorified this day as Your people gather to worship Thee, the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Be magnified in Your people’s praises! Be honored as we sing out the glory of Your great Name, O Jehovah! Guide us, humble us, feed us by Your Word as we limp along in this fallen, sin-cursed world! Guide us even as the hymn writer wrote: “Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty, Hold me with Thy pow’rful hand. Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more; Feed me till I want no more!”

Thank You, Lord, for hearing and answering my feeble prayer!
In Jesus name I pray! Amen!
