A CHRISTIAN’S SIMPLE SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER…

My Father and My God!
You alone, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, uphold the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that dwells in them by the Word of Your power.
You created the stars, You numbered them, You call them all by name.
You are glorious in splendor and ineffable in all Your works.
How Great Thou Art! I love you Lord! Cause my love for You to increase day by day!

Thank you, Father, for justification, for covering me with the righteous robes of Christ!
Thank You for His cleansing blood that washes away all my sins!
What wondrous grace You have bestowed upon me and all Your redeemed that we should be called the children of the living God (1 John 3:1).
As Isaiah wrote, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isa. 1:18).

Lord Jesus, with all that I am able, I thank you for redemption!
I need Your forgiveness every hour of every day!
Thank you for providing everlasting forgiveness through Your person and work!
Keep me from sinning against You as You did with Abimelech in Genesis 20.
Don’t let me drift, don’t let my heart grow cold, keep me from lethargy!
Keep me walking on the straight and narrow path that leads to life.
Keep upholding me, Lord Jesus, by Your sovereign power.
Keep frustrating my sinful plans and desires.
Cause me to rejoice in Your good, perfect, and acceptable will (Rom. 12:2).

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for sanctification, for progressively making me and all Your people more and more like Jesus!
By Your Word, You are progressively making me and all believers practically righteous and holy.
Oh, how I long to be more like Jesus! To think His thoughts after Him and to be completely done away with sin!
What a blessing that the power of sin in my life is being destroyed day by day by Your Presence and Power.
O Holy Spirit, keep working in and upon me by Your Holy Word! Keep conforming me into Christ’s image.
Keep renewing my mind by Your transforming work through Your inspired, inerrant, infallible Word.
Keep me daily thinking more like Jesus even though I have such a long, long way to go.
Keep me moving in a righteous direction as You continue Your progressive work in me!

Thank you for future glorification, being made exactly into the image of Jesus.
No more sin in thought, word, or deed, no more struggles with the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, but rather complete, full, perfect, and everlasting love for You, O God, made complete because of Christ’s work on my behalf and on behalf of all Your redeemed people! Hallelujah! What a Savior!

O Lord, be glorified this day as Your people gather to worship You, the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
What a wonder that we gather to meet with You, the Triune God.
Let Your people not forsake this precious and ineffable gathering of the saints (Heb. 10:24-25)!
Be magnified in Your people’s praises! Be honored as we sing out the glory of Your great Name, O Jehovah!
Guide us, humble us, feed us by Your Word as we limp along in this fallen, sin-cursed world!
Guide us even as the hymn writer wrote: “Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty, Hold me with Thy pow’rful hand. Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more; Feed me till I want no more!”

As John Newton once wrote, “I am not what I ought to be. Ah! How imperfect and deficient! I am not what I wish to be. I abhor what is evil, and I would cleave to what is good. I am not what I hope to be. Soon, soon, I shall put off mortality, and with mortality all sin and imperfection. Yet, though I am not what I ought to be, nor what I wish to be, nor what I hope to be, I can truly say, I am not what I once was—a slave to sin and Satan. And I can heartily join with the apostle, and acknowledge, ‘By the grace of God, I am what I am.’”

Thank you, Lord, for hearing and answering my feeble prayer!
In Jesus’ name I pray! Amen!
